The factors in reliable diagnosis

For accurate and reliable diagnosis, the patient's symptoms as well as their autoantibodies should always be taken into account. However, there are additional factors to consider.

Diagnosis involves several aspects:

  • Medical history: The doctor will ask the patient about the symptoms and how long the patient has had them.
  • Clinical examination: The doctor will check for any medical signs (e.g. swollen lymph nodes, inflamed joints, etc.).
  • Laboratory tests: The doctor may test the patient's blood for inflammation markers and/or autoantibodies.

Additionally, the doctor's knowledge and awareness, and effective communication between doctor and patient, are essential to the process of making an accurate diagnosis.
