A diagnosis can be made by considering different aspects:
- Medical history: The doctor will ask the patient about the symptoms and how long the patient has had them.
- Clinical examination: The doctor will check for any medical signs (e.g., swollen lymph nodes, inflamed joints etc.).
- Laboratory tests: Doctors may test the patient's blood for inflammation markers and/or autoantibodies.
Additionally, knowledge and awareness on the part of the doctor and effective communication between doctor and patient are essential to the process of making an accurate diagnosis.
