The 44th Annual Meeting of The European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) took place from May 25 to 28, 2011 in Sorrento, Italy, and hosted more than 3000 registered participants.
Phadia was one of the very few diagnostic companies present with a booth, and showed its committment to aid in the diagnostics of gastrointestinal diseases through offering of high quality tests.
The great success of this meeting and the need for additional tests to facilitate the early diagnosis of gastrointestinal disorders motivates us to further enlarge our autoimmune product portfolio in the area of gastrointestinal disorders. Consequently, our test for the determination of Calprotectin in stool, an important marker for the differentiation between inflammatory and non-inflammatory bowel diseases, will be launched in the beginning of year 2012.
Phadia’s engagement in supporting international scientific study projects was underlined in several presentations. Promising first results of the still ongoing European multicenter study ‘PreventCD’ were presented on several occasions during the scientific program, mentioning Phadia as an official partner in this important research project, contributing with tests for celiac disease and diagnostic expertise.
As in all diagnostic testing, the diagnosis is made by the physican based on both test results and the patient history.
